Literally a fairytale. That’s the only way to describe this beautiful wedding, one perfect summer day in Charlevoix, Michigan. Castle Farms is always a favorite (I mean, who wouldn’t want to get married in a castle…

Amanda and Sam are those kind of couple that is just FUN. We had the best time on their wedding day in Grand Rapids. The day itself was rain, then sun, then cloudy, then rain….and more rain. And it kept going in that pattern the whole…
FTD Wedding Bouquet Feature
Rochill Studio, Traverse City and Northern Michigan Wedding Photographer
I love many, MANY aspects of a wedding day. The dress, the food, the music, and of course I love all the florals! Picking a wedding bouquet can be more stressful than people realize…it ties much of a wedding theme together with the colors and style. There’s a ton of options out there but FTD.com put together a super sweet inspiration post highlighting a popular choice in the late summer/fall: sunflowers! And features a gorgeous bouquet from one of our weddings!!
Check out the post HERE!
I know I JUST blogged this wedding, but...in case you missed it, or just want another look at this AMAZING vow renewal, you can check it out on Brides & Weddings! Click below for the link to this feature.
If I had to pick a title for this day, I'd call it the "vow renewal to end all vow renewals." Quin and Donny are already married. With 3 gorgeous children. And were coming up on their 10 year anniversary. Quin had messaged me about how she wanted to have a "wedding" vow renewal and the ideas she had for that. This couple had originally gotten married in a very small ceremony and didn't have all the fancy celebration that a wedding day typically entails. But, 10 years later, she was more in love with her husband than ever before and they wanted...
We travel to Florida A LOT. Maybe not as much as some people, but I swear we are there at least once a year. We've been to several areas of the state, but a favorite of ours is the St. Augustine area. I love the history of it (if you really get to know me, you'll know that I'm an American History enthusiast) and of course is just really really cool. While the couple is planning their Michigan wedding for next winter, they are currently...
Summer in Northern Michigan is absolutely spectacular. It's the *perfect* temperature, low humidity (I mean, for the most part!) with endless beaches and water, pine forests, and much to see and do. So summer in Michigan is the perfect place for a wedding. But, as much as you try and plan out every detail of the wedding day, you also have to plan for rain. And that's what Rae and Steve had to contend with. Rain. And LOTS of...
Last year we were SO honored to be given the 2017 Editor's Choice award. I probably said it then, but when my couple's put so much hard work into their weddings and I have the privilege of capturing the culmination of that blood, sweat, and tears, it's the cherry on top when their wedding is showcased to the world by other wedding blogs and magazines, showing all the other brides planning their wedding inspiration they can use on their day. It's amazing!!
Two Bright Lights is a wedding platform that so, so many of those wedding blogs and magazines use and it streamlines the submission process for us photographers. This award recognizes the best-of-the-best of the photographers who submit their weddings to be published by the wedding blogs and magazines. And...we were chosen for this again!!! The 2018 Editor's Choice Award recognizes the top 1% of those photographers and vendors who submit their work for publication.
It's an absolute honor for me to be recognized, but nothing would happen if not for my amazing clients who entrust me with their wedding day. So let's all have a collective high five/pat on the back/cheers and celebrate!!
Andria and Jim are quite possibly the most perfect couple you'd want to meet. They are the kind of couple you want to just hang out with and have fun. So sweet and kind and just amazing humans. After getting to know them better for our engagement session, my excitement for their wedding was easily doubled! I knew it was going to be a fun one...we were able to travel down to the Illinois/Iowa boarder for...
You guys know how much I love our albums. I did a whole other blog post on why you SHOULD choose an album for your wedding (some packages include one and you can always add on an album - or two - to any package, at any time). You can check that blog post out HERE. It goes into much more detail about the albums themselves and what makes them so special. If you are just getting familiar with the option of including a custom wedding album...
Kendall and Chase are absolutely a couple after my own heart. They love adventure (they've traveled all over the world together...even getting engaged in Paris!) and trying new things so when Kendall said they've never visited Traverse City, I knew...
Jackie and Roy had the *perfect* day for their engagement session. I'm always a little bit on edge when a client is traveling for their engagement session, I always want the perfect weather for them, and Jackie and Roy totally hit the jackpot. It was perfect out. A gorgeous, endless summer day. I love shooting at the...
Autumn and Jeff. I adore this couple! They are both archeologists (I mean, how amazing is that?!) and I love the details from that they incorporated into their wedding. It was a rainy, early summer day in the Upper Peninsula. But that didn't matter...we were loaded up with our umbrellas and this couple was so in love, I don't think they even noticed the rain! After the bride finished getting ready...
Kristyn and Jack are rockstars. They are one of the funnest couples we've had the honor to photograph (seriously, my husband keeps talking about how much Kristyn made him laugh during the course of the wedding day...she's just awesome like that!) and every detail of their wedding day was perfect...
I love living in Northern Michigan. Traverse City area has some of the best spots to just loose yourself adventuring around, the Upper Peninsula is just wilderness goodness, Mackinac Island is just...a place all it's own. I've shot a number of weddings and engagements on the Island and it's always a favorite of...
I am SO thankful for each and every client who graciously trusts me to photograph their wedding, engagement sessions, etc. I am so blessed with amazing clients and wanted to take a few minutes to say THANK YOU. Photography is my passion (photographing weddings and engagements puts me straight on cloud nine!) and you all make this the best job in the world for me.
Thank you for an amazing 2017 season...and looking forward to the amazing wedding season of 2018!!
I cannot say how much I love when client families turn into wonderful relationships. I've been able to work with member's of Jimmy's family now for a number of weddings and sessions and his family are some of the best people I know. So when these two got engaged and contacted me about photographing their wedding, I was SO SO SO happy! That, and the fact...
Sometimes during an engagement session, you have a couple who are just perfect together. I mean, JUST PERFECT. That was the case with Casey and Del. These two know the hardships of a long-distance relationship, with much over their time spent with a literal ocean between them, so the time they do spend together is extra special...and I could see that in every aspect of their engagement session.
We had an amazing time wandering around Marquette, Michigan for their session! So many laughs, lots of cuddles, and the most perfect Northern Michigan summer evening. I was super excited to share some from this session, but waited till the couple "officially" became engaged...about a month or two after their photo shoot. So, instead of posting a ton on our facebook page, I'll just make a blog post about it, yay!
Earlier this year while we were getting prepared to photograph Christy and Mike's wedding day, I got a call from the editor of the MiBrew magazine, a publication put on by the Michigan Brewers Guild. The editor said they were doing a feature on the bride (Christy) and was wondering if I'd be up for using one of my images from the wedding day as their magazine cover.
ABSOLUTELY!
This couple is very enthusiastic about craft beer, and it was fitting that on the wedding day, we went to a local brewery for a quick drink, getting some pictures with the couple and their wedding party. It made the perfect backdrop for shooting the cover of the magazine! I was thrilled for this amazing couple and the opportunity to have their big day featured in such an amazing way!!
Much thanks to MiBrew magazine and this couple for the incredible opportunity!!
I first met Ryan and Nicole in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was the evening before we were scheduled to shoot a wedding and we had met up with that bride and groom at the hotel with their wedding party, family, and friends for a few drinks. We were chatting about how excited we were for the next day's wedding and just general conversation and Ryan (who at the time was only dating Nicole) mentioned to us about how he was planning on proposing to Nicole in...
