About Rockhill Studio
Hello Friends!! I'm Rebecca, the photographer behind Rockhill Studio. I love my God, my family, being creative, and my passion: photography. I have always been interested in photography but the fire was lit during college when I had a photography class...black and white film photography. My first "real" camera was a film camera and in fact, I shot my very first senior session and wedding entirely on FILM! I then started to venture into digital photography, working and learning from several wedding photographers and found my true passion. I love what I do!
The second part, editing, came as an interest as well. Back during high school I would use the basic painting programs on our home computer and would manipulate images and learn basics I use today, not even realizing the technical skills I was figuring out. Well, eventually I moved on to photoshop and again in college had classes on it (I was an advertising major, which helped a lot with all these "creative" classes!) and was able to further learn and understand the software and skills I needed not just behind the camera, but what happens when I put it down.
Being my clients' photographer for their wedding, engagement, family, or senior sessions is truly an honor. And for those checking around for a photographer, I would love to capture YOU with my style. It's a winning combo every time. We shoot around 35 weddings a year, so if you are worried about lighting at your venue, or a crazy idea you may have that you don't know how it could work out to be photographed, let us know...chances are we've covered it or if not, we are well equipped and experienced to handled wild ideas!
A little more personal: This year (2023) marks 17 years of marriage bliss for me and my husband, David. We have one son who is always looking for adventure and all things legos or robots. We just built a house here in Traverse City and during the week or weekend while I'm off editing or shooting, we make it a point to have our own family adventures as often as possible...be it a local tourist spot close to home, or a road trip across the country! Because the summer season is extremely busy for us and we book up extremely full (which is a great problem to have), we homeschool our son to allow to have more family time during the slower winter months, and travel as much as possible. We LOVE family and adventures! We've traveled to numerous countries all together, and in 2018 we checked off traveling to all 50 states (Hayden included!)
A little bit on Rockhill Studio itself: Rockhill Studio is one of Traverse City and Northern Michigan's premier wedding, engagement, with family and senior photography studio. Rockhill Studio was born in 2011 and after living in several areas (from Arkansas to Washington State), has come settle in the Northern Michigan (I am a native of the Upper Peninsula, so Michigan is forever my home). I absolutely love what I do, capturing each couples timeless love!!
Most of Rockhill’s shoots are on-location shot in natural light (you can’t beat the best backdrop of all, outdoor nature!), depending on season/weather.
Rockhill Studio, based in Traverse City, MI, services the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan along with all of the downstate areas (Marquette, Traverse City, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Detroit, Mackinac Island, Sault Ste.
