Starry Night Barn…this venue was the perfect backdrop for Becca and Jordan’s wedding day. It was one of those days where no matter what the weather did, or what was thrown their way, these two, along with family and friends, were there to celebrate and most importantly…

Lauren and Alex were married on the most perfect day, right at the end of summer of 2021. At the start of the year, instead of trying to figure out seating arrangements and color schemes, these two had to figure out if they still were able to move forward with the wedding because of pandemic restrictions. And I’m SO glad their wedding day did end up to be the most amazing day for them. It was bright, sunny, and so full of joy and love you could also feel…
Sam and Riley will forever be favorites of mine to photograph. I remember their engagement session, it was the perfect spring day with snow still on the ground, but clear, sunny skies and it couldn’t have been more perfect. We laughed and wandered around the Petoskey area and got a taste of what these two were going to be like on the wedding day. I could hardly wait in anticipation! And their wedding day was every bit amazing, and more so, than the engagement session. Another perfect weather day with abundant sunshine, and these two even more radiant in love.
We started out photographing their getting ready at the Leland Lodge…
Ok, so all my couples have the most incredible love story to tell. Each story is beautiful and so much fun to capture and to watch unfold on camera. Chandice and Evan could not have made my job any easier to capture this!! These two are SO fun and perfect in front of the camera and I quite enjoyed being the third wheel on this sunny evening exploring a little part of Detroit. And I’m STILL sad we didn’t have an extra…
Literally a fairytale. That’s the only way to describe this beautiful wedding, one perfect summer day in Charlevoix, Michigan. Castle Farms is always a favorite (I mean, who wouldn’t want to get married in a castle…
We are SO thrilled to have Sam and Riley’s engagement session be featured on WeddingDay Magazine!! They are an amazingly sweet couple and I’m still not over their engagement session, shot in Petoskey, MI. A little bit of snow, lots of sunshine and laughs, and a whole lot of perfection pretty much sums up their engagement session. Click the image below to see the full feature!
You guys know how much we love to travel, right? Even when we aren’t traveling, we are totally playing tourist all around Traverse City and the surrounding Northern Michigan areas, exploring and playing and just finding those hidden gems in our beautiful state. Which is why we are itching to have spring finally arrive…we enjoy winter but 99% of our exploring and getting outside is during the warm summer months.
Having hit all 50 states this past year, we have most definitely explore lots of our country as well. Well, Colorado is one of those places I can visit again and again. And again. It’s incredible with so much diverse landscape and a total dream to photograph in. I was SO happy it worked out to photograph Sierra and Charlie’s engagement there this past fall! Their wedding will be back here in Michigan, but capturing them…
To say this wedding day was an absolute dream is an understatement. I'll never forget our engagement session we had with these two, wandering around Grand Rapids capturing some amazing images and I had truly been counting down the days till their wedding day. Of course, the forecast ALL week long leading up to the wedding was a 90% chance of rain and
So, a few days before this polar vortex hit pretty much all of the midwest of the USA strong, I met with Molly and Tayler for their engagement session with regular Michigan winter temperatures…you know, barely breaking 10 degrees. It actually WAS pretty freezing but these two…they had nothing but smiles and were a dream to work with! I figured I’m posting all these previews to our…
Earlier this summer, before the 4th of July hits and all of Traverse City and the surrounding areas becomes tourist central, we ventured out to the Sleeping Bear Dunes with Alexa and Jake for their engagement session. It was just SO perfect. There were a few…

Many people choose the Traverse City area for their wedding because it's just, well, beautiful. Just about everywhere you turn there's scenic views everywhere. And Emma and Michael chose one of the prettiest views in the area: the Lake Michigan Overlook at Sleeping Bear Dunes. If you've never been, it's this massive 500ft sand dune on the shores of Lake Michigan that has unparalleled views, sand for miles, and rolling hills of beach…
Mackinac Island Destination Wedding Photography Feature
One super special wedding we had the privilege of photographing last summer was Lindsey and Conner's sweet family tying the knot at Mackinac Island's Mission Point Resort. We blogged this wedding before (if you scroll past entries you'll see it!) and I am SO happy to have this wedding featured on Big Love Small Weddings today! From their fudge cake to the carriage ride around the pretty spots on the island, this wedding was everything an intimate destination wedding (for them!) could be. Northern Michigan is so beautiful and Mackinac Island just provided the absolute perfect backdrop for their nautical themed wedding.

I know I JUST blogged this wedding, but...in case you missed it, or just want another look at this AMAZING vow renewal, you can check it out on Brides & Weddings! Click below for the link to this feature.
If I had to pick a title for this day, I'd call it the "vow renewal to end all vow renewals." Quin and Donny are already married. With 3 gorgeous children. And were coming up on their 10 year anniversary. Quin had messaged me about how she wanted to have a "wedding" vow renewal and the ideas she had for that. This couple had originally gotten married in a very small ceremony and didn't have all the fancy celebration that a wedding day typically entails. But, 10 years later, she was more in love with her husband than ever before and they wanted...
We travel to Florida A LOT. Maybe not as much as some people, but I swear we are there at least once a year. We've been to several areas of the state, but a favorite of ours is the St. Augustine area. I love the history of it (if you really get to know me, you'll know that I'm an American History enthusiast) and of course is just really really cool. While the couple is planning their Michigan wedding for next winter, they are currently...
Summer in Northern Michigan is absolutely spectacular. It's the *perfect* temperature, low humidity (I mean, for the most part!) with endless beaches and water, pine forests, and much to see and do. So summer in Michigan is the perfect place for a wedding. But, as much as you try and plan out every detail of the wedding day, you also have to plan for rain. And that's what Rae and Steve had to contend with. Rain. And LOTS of...
Bailey and Ty's wedding on Drummond Island this past summer was like a wonderful family party. Partly because they have ties to Drummond Island so it was like seeing all the family members come back home for a celebration. And partly because their families and wedding party were SO FUN! The couple got ready at an intimate little church on the island (and if you've ever been to Drummond Island, it's an amazing spot with beautiful scenery and lots of outdoor adventures...and not a whole lot of population, so everything has that small town charm to it that only added...
Last year we were SO honored to be given the 2017 Editor's Choice award. I probably said it then, but when my couple's put so much hard work into their weddings and I have the privilege of capturing the culmination of that blood, sweat, and tears, it's the cherry on top when their wedding is showcased to the world by other wedding blogs and magazines, showing all the other brides planning their wedding inspiration they can use on their day. It's amazing!!
Two Bright Lights is a wedding platform that so, so many of those wedding blogs and magazines use and it streamlines the submission process for us photographers. This award recognizes the best-of-the-best of the photographers who submit their weddings to be published by the wedding blogs and magazines. And...we were chosen for this again!!! The 2018 Editor's Choice Award recognizes the top 1% of those photographers and vendors who submit their work for publication.
It's an absolute honor for me to be recognized, but nothing would happen if not for my amazing clients who entrust me with their wedding day. So let's all have a collective high five/pat on the back/cheers and celebrate!!
Andria and Jim are quite possibly the most perfect couple you'd want to meet. They are the kind of couple you want to just hang out with and have fun. So sweet and kind and just amazing humans. After getting to know them better for our engagement session, my excitement for their wedding was easily doubled! I knew it was going to be a fun one...we were able to travel down to the Illinois/Iowa boarder for...
